Fortune Intersection Painting
Lead contact of this project: Monica Roxburgh, Portsmouth neighbor
Our proposed street painting, (also known as an “Intersection Repair” project) did not get approved for this year. Despite challenges, a majority of the neighbors are very enthusiastic about this project. Neghbors voted on a colorful compass-style quandrant design with local landmarks for the intersection of N Houghton and N Fortune. Instead, the neighborhood came together to celebrate our community by chalking the "would-be" design. The neighborhood block party was a success, with: art, games, children's activities, food, and more! We hope to continue building community around this intersection with a potential project in the future.
Many of these projects include intersection paintings, gardens, community notice boards, Little Free Libraries, cob benches, tea stations and more, all created by neighbors for their neighborhoods. These projects build community and strengthen neighborhood ties, and many people have reported that their neighborhoods also feel safer as a result.
If you have ideas to share with us, help build a Little Free Library, benches, community notice board, plant trees/native plants by the intersection, join our mailing list for project updates, or just to share your enthusiasm or support! The options are endless! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
